to complete a DUI evaluation to determine the appropriate
education and/or treatment recommendations.
Next Step Consultations is currently completing the Illinois state licensing process required to provide DUI Evaluation and DUI Risk Education services.
These services are not yet available for scheduling.
In the meantime, we are open and accepting clients for DOT SAP Assessments and other eligible services.

A DUI evaluation is a professional assessment required as part of the Illinois DUI process. It looks at the circumstances surrounding your DUI, your driving history, substance use history, and other relevant information.
The evaluation helps determine your Illinois DUI risk classification and the education, intervention, and/or treatment that may be recommended.
DUI evaluations can be completed at different points in your case. Some clients complete their evaluation early based on their attorney’s recommendation, while other complete it closer to their court date.
We will begin with an individualized interview covering the information necessary for your DUI evaluation.
We will speak in person or by phone, with the person providing corroborative information about your history and circumstances.
You will complete standardized screening measures as part of the evaluation. This portion typically takes about 15 minutes.
Your information is entered into the Electronic DUI Service Reporting System (eDSRS), which is used by all providers to determine your risk classification and corresponding recommendations.
Plan for approximately two hours. Some evaluations may take less time; individual circumstances may occasionally require additional time.
Your evaluation results in an Illinois DUI risk classification. Your classification determines the minimum education,
intervention, and/or treatment recommendations associated with your evaluation.

Before you leave: We will review your completed evaluation with you so you understand your risk classification, why it was assigned, and what your recommendations mean. You will receive two copies of your completed evaluation.
With your written consent, Next Step Consultations can also forward your evaluation to your attorney or other authorized parties.
Need services to satisfy your recommendations? Next Step Consultations provides DUI Risk Education. If Early Intervention, or Substance Use Disorder treatment is recommended, we will help you identify appropriate referral options. Your recommended services do not have to be completed through the same providers.
