What is DUI Risk Education?

DUI Risk Education is a minimum 10-hour educational program required for certain individuals following an Illinois
DUI Evaluation.

The program provides education about the effects of alcohol and other substances on the body including driving ability, DUI laws and consequences personal risk factors, and ways to reduce the likelihood of another impaired-driving incident.

DUI Risk Education is education – not substance use disorder treatment.

Your DUI Evaluation determines whether Risk Education and any additional intervention or treatment services are required.

Who Needs DUI Risk Education?

DUI Risk Education is required at the Minimal, Moderate, and Significant Risk levels
as identified by your DUI Evaluation.

High risk clients do not complete DUI Risk Education.

Their DUI Evaluation identifies the treatment requirements associated with their classification.

Already completed your DUI Evaluation somewhere else?

You do not need to complete another evaluation with Next Step Consultations. We can provide your Risk Education as long as you have completed an Illinois Alcohol and Drug Evaluation Uniform Report recommending DUI Risk Education.

What about my other recommended services?

Completing DUI Risk Education with Next Step Consultations does not require you to complete your other recommended services with us. Next Step Consultations does not provide Early Intervention or substance use disorder treatment. If you DUI Evaluation recommends additional services, you may choose another licensed provider to complete them.

With your written consent, Next Step Consultations can send your DUI Evaluation (if completed with NSC) and DUI Risk Education Certificate of Completion directly to the provider you choose.

Participate from home while completing the program live with your instructor.

Monthly Classes

New program cycles begin the first Monday of each month, based on sufficient enrollment.

Program materials are provided after registration. Materials can be mailed to you
or picked up at the office before your first class.

How Do I Sign Up for DUI Risk Education

Provide Your DUI Evaluation

Send us a copy of your completed DUI Evaluation showing that DUI Risk Education is required.

Complete Your
Registration Forms

We’ll send you the required Risk Education paperwork. Registration can be completed electronically or in out office.

Complete Payment

The DUI Risk Education program fee is $400. Once you registration requirements are complete, you’ll be enrolled in an upcoming class cycle.

Payment is required before enrollment. 

Need help paying for Risk Education?
Funding may be available through the Illinois Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Fund (DDDPF) for individual who meet income eligibility requirements. Ask us about eligibility when you register.
